1. You have recently visited New York, right? How is the scene there comparing to the one in UK ?
Yes, I was there for the GTK Tour – New York to San Diego in 10 days. The scene in New York is soo big – Ray Mendez, John Ortiz, Tom Hyser, Ryan Jacklone doing so much to support the younger in our sport by running skate schools – that’s how we grow!!!
Much the same for the UK as well. People like Scott Quinn, Jenna Downing holding it up for the UK kids scene both in their own ways. Whether it would be just hanging out and chat or at school and teaching – and that’s how it should be!
2. Is there anything new coming up from Kaltik camp? You were using the new orange prototype frame during the Ghetto Games right?
There is a lot happening with Kaltik at the moment! We are doing one week camp at The Backyard skatepark. Also we are the new, main sponsor for this park in Germany. We are going to sort the team out finally because we support like 40 riders all round Europe.
There are three new signature frames coming up: Nick Schopfer (Brown), Eito Yasutoko (Blue), Joey Egan (Orange). Hope they will be out end of the month, I’m so juiced about that and ready to skate harder for the next years!
3. What`s the best area spot-wise in London? What you would recommend to somebody who is dropping a visit around UK?
The best spots are in London! There is so many all around central London the best would be to get in touch with Leon Humphries, Blake Bird BUT if you wanna skate one of the best skatepark in the UK get to UNIT23 (Scotland, Glasgow) for one of the best sessions You will ever have. Get in touch with Scott Quinn or Chaz Sandz!
4. Best UK young blood coming up right now?
All young newcomers in London, there is so many.. but Sammy Brookfield, Sam Croft, Jake Rickets. The big thing is that Jenna Downing is working so hard on the kids scene – all the new up and coming skaters plus the unknown who will be the next generation
and that’s the way skating should be going.
5. What’s the next big event in your country that people should know about?
The next big street contest will be the Kaltik street contest on the 17th of March (St Patricks Day) in Dublin. We will have some pros and many more skaters from around the world so don’t miss the biggest party and biggest session! Irish style so get the dates
in now!!!
