5`er: Iain Mcleod

1. How the co-operation between you and Quinn went? Is it different to shoot with such gear and all that background preparation before each clip?

Iain Mcleod Pro Skate from Razors

Filming with Quinn was cool overall.  I have been friends with, and skated with Quinn for many years now, so Quinn knows my skating and what tricks I am capable of.  A lot of the tricks I was super lazy/unsure of attempting.  He would motivate me when needed to try them, so sometimes it helped in getting shit done I wouldn’t normally try.  It can be annoying sometimes having to wait to set-up so much equipment just for one clip.  A lot of times when I try a dangerous trick I just like to try it right away, commit 100% so I don’t have to keep trying it several times and end up dying.  Haha.  I don’t like waiting.  Also, I had a lot of the tricks planned out beforehand.  I would try to get juiced mentally to do a tricks in the car ride to the spot.  So, when you have to wait for a 20-30 minute set-up its difficult to wait.  The 2 examples of tricks I’m thinking of happened was the 180 roll-in trick, was filmed during a weekday at school so it was sketchy having all the people around.  Also, the top mistrial it was getting dark so I was stressing on filming it as quick as possible.  It’s also more pressure having a lot of set-up you feel like you have to lace your tricks I guess, so you don’t waste everyones time hah!

2. Which trick you are the most satisfied with (from 2013 Edit) or maybe there was something that wanted to do but it didn`t work out?

Most satisfied, I like the Top mistrial, the 900 was scary because I haven’t done them in awhile and there was a giant crack right before  you jump.  I wanted to get the fakie 7 soyale but hurt my shin too much.  I also wanted to fakie 720 the Eastlake double set (the one I 540 in my section/fell trying fakie 720 in the old Kizer video), I also wanted to 180 the Costco gap.  I didn’t get a chance to try those again but maybe I’ll try to get those for my next section!

3. What`s up with your brother – Colin Mcleod – is he still skating?

My brother is still skating for sure, he’s been filming a part for my friend Alejoh Candelos new Savage video, and I usually skate with him every other week.  He’s recently graduated from Cal State Fullerton and currently he’s been working on an iPhone app for video editing the last few years.  He’s already invested thousands into, so it should be released soon.  He’s really into surfing and other sports too.

4.  How is current state of rollerblading in US in your opinion?

It could be better, but it is still strong in some areas.  It’s mostly just spread out, and the US is so big so there many kids just have there different groups all over.  The Blading Cup is happening at the beginning of this month, so there will be tons of people out here visiting.  It’s an amazing event because it brings everyone together.  I’m actually having a few people coming out to stay at my house for that weekend so should be a rad time.

5. Any plans for 2014 season? Can we count on You at next Winterclash?

I have some new plans in the works.  I’m about to begin working on a new project with Erick Rodriguez.  I have a few new things I can’t mention yet, but I can say that I will have a new Undercover wheel coming soon.  I may be competing in the Blading Cup, and plan some new trips soon!  I’m always working on something!
